DAWS consists of a team of professionals with expert knowledge in the domestic abuse sector, especially with those using harmful behaviour. This is what sets us apart. We believe that a workplace culture can both safeguard those experiencing abuse but also encourage and influence those using harmful behaviour to understand why they are doing so and learn strategies to stop.

Through experience the DAWS team have come to recognise that an effective lever for engagement is the workplace. Often when career, job and finances could be impacted this can be a lever for positive change.

Launched in 2023, DAWS aims to work with a handful of workplaces in year 1 to create an evidence base and platform to expand and support more workplaces with their domestic abuse response in the future.

What we do:

DAWS exists to improve the workplace response to domestic abuse. With approximately 33 million people in employment in the UK and one in five adults experiencing domestic abuse in their lifetime it is highly likely that your workplace will consist of those experiencing and using abusive behaviour.

With a significant amount of time spent at work, both home and office based, colleagues can often be the first to know that something is not quite right. With the right frameworks, training and awareness, the workplace can play a significant role in reducing the prevalence of domestic abuse within our society.
